PORTFOLIO TRAVEL TERMS OF SERVICE
The purchase of your travel booking constitutes an agreement between the traveler(s) and/or purchaser(s) (referred to in this agreement as “Traveller”, “You”, “Your”) and Lisa Carter/Portfolio Travel (referred to in this agreement as “We”, “Us”, “Portfolio Travel”) pursuant to the following terms and conditions:
Agency:
Lisa Carter/Portfolio Travel acts as a travel agent only. Most of the travel services in your travel booking are provided by third-party travel suppliers including and without limitation, hotels, airlines, cruiselines, car rentals (“Travel Suppliers”). Payment of your travel booking to Portfolio Travel, as the agent of the Travel Supplier, binds you to the terms and conditions of the Travel Supplier.
If for any reason the Travel Supplier is unable to provide the services for which you have booked with Portfolio Travel, your resolution lies against the Travel Supplier and not us.
While we make recommendations on travel supplier products and services, we rely on the information provided to us by the Travel Supplier about its product and services but cannot guarantee the accuracy of that information. We will not be liable or responsible for any products and services of a Travel Supplier that does not meet your expectations.
Traveller Responsibility:
Flight times, accommodations and other travel services booked are subject to change even after the booking is complete and final payment is made. Portfolio Travel is not responsible for any schedule changes. It is your responsibility to confirm your flight departure times at least 24 hours in advance of departure. Travellers are asked to check in at least 2 hours for domestic and 3 hours for international prior to your scheduled time of departure due to enhanced security measures. We recommend online check-in with airlines at least 24 to 12 hours prior to departure and at least 72 hours for cruises. You must arrive with your boarding documents, passports and visas necessary for the destination. Travellers arriving late to check-in may be denied boarding.
It is your responsibility to keep us up to date with your current contact information so we can advise you of any changes prior to departure or while in destination. Any personalized requests (ie seat selections or room allocations) are subject to availability and not guaranteed. Please ensure that you have familiarized yourself with the terms and conditions of the Travel Supplier by referring to their brochures and/or website.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid Canadian passport, visa and/or other required travel documentation. If you do not have a valid Canadian passport, it is your responsibility to inform us. Penalties, payments and expenses incurred as a result of your documents not meeting the entry and exit requirements of the countries you are travelling to are your sole responsibility.
Immigration authorities have the discretion to deny entry even when the relevant documentation has been presented. For some countries, health certification and vaccinations may be required. We recommend that you consult with your health care professional before travelling. General entry and exit requirements and health advice for the destination you will be visiting is available on the Government of Canada Travel and Tourism site www.travel.gc.ca
Once a payment has been applied to a booking, cancellation charges are in effect both from the travel supplier and from Portfolio Travel. 100% non-refundable penalties may apply. The supplier charges vary and often depend on when cancellation is received. Complete terms and conditions may be found in the tour/cruise operator's brochure or website, or on your travel booking documents and receipt. It is your responsibility to review the terms and conditions of the travel supplier. We strongly recommend that you purchase Travel Insurance from us to protect you from unexpected cancellations.
Travel Protection:
Portfolio Travel recommends travel insurance to protect your travel investment against unforeseen events that may lead to financial losses associated with travelling. However, as your insurance policy is administered by the insurance company, Portfolio Travel cannot provide assurance or guarantees on the travel protection outlined in any policy purchased, and we are not responsible for any travel claim submission or outcomes.
Price Availability and Increases:
Prices and availability quoted are subject to change at the discretion of the Travel Supplier at any time until full payment is received. No price increases are permitted after the booking is paid in full. If the price increase is more than 7% (except increases resulting from an increase in retail sales tax or federal Goods and Services tax or Harmonized Sales tax), you have the right to cancel the contract and obtain a full refund.
Liability:
Portfolio Travel is not liable for any negligent act or failure to act of any Travel Supplier or Third Party involved in your booking. In addition, we are not responsible for inconvenience, injury, loss, delays, damage to person or property, or death connected to the provision of travel services by the travel supplier.
Living standards and practices at the destination with respect to the provision of utilities, services, food and accommodation may differ from those found in Canada. Portfolio Travel will not be held responsible for loss, damage, illness or injury resulting from different living standards. Services may be interrupted at any time for renovations, repairs, maintenance or construction. Portfolio Travel is an agent only and is not responsible for quality or interruptions of service. It is possible that you may encounter minor unavoidable and uncontrollable difficulties with the Travel Supplier. Please try to attempt to address the situation directly with the supplier, and then contact Portfolio Travel for assistance. However, please note we will not be held responsible for any positive or negative outcome or resolution of the issue. It is your responsibility to research and prepare for any eventuality. For a detailed report on your destination, visit the Canadian government website at www.travel.gc.ca.
Privacy:
Portfolio Travel is committed to protecting the privacy of travellers. We collect personal information for the purposes of making travel reservations with Travel Suppliers on your behalf. Your information will not be shared with third parties outside of the booking contract and will be kept secure.
Signature:
All parties agree that you may acknowledge and agree to these booking terms and conditions by electronic or handwritten signature, or any other electronic means including acknowledgement via email correspondence or your implied consent determined by the action of payment of the invoice and/or use of the services provided by Portfolio Travel and the Travel Supplier(s) associated with the travel booking. Any of these means constitutes acknowledgement and execution of these Terms of Service and binds the parties to its terms and conditions.
Professional/Service Fees:
Portfolio Travel may charge non-refundable professional travel planning fees which would be in addition to any booking/service fees charged by the Travel Supplier. We will inform you of such fees verbally or in writing in advance of providing any quotes or making your travel booking.
It is truly my pleasure to work with you and help you to build your portfolio of travel dreams!
