It all began with our family vacation to the UK. I built our 3-week itinerary from arrival in London to departure in Glasgow and everything in between. Being an “old-school” 80s girl who didn’t grow up with a smartphone, I printed it all out and stored it in a handy purple binder. Each page was organized, in order, with the confirmations, coupons, vouchers and tickets we needed for that day.  

The fam may have made fun of me for having it out at the airport before we took off on our adventure but…by about day 3, they were all asking “What’s in the purple binder for today?” We found my purple binder an invaluable tool that made our trip run as smoothly as any guided tour.  

Since then I have designed custom itineraries for the UK, Italy, Portugal, arranged bookings for guided and self-guided tours, and sent clients on a variety of European cruises.

That online travel booking site you were looking at? It doesn't have a conversation with you. But I do. It won't recommend that resort with a spectacular pool because you prefer spending more time at the pool than the beach. But I will. It can't tell you the specific differences between staterooms and locations on a cruiseship. But I can. And it doesn't care that you're celebrating a milestone. But watch me pop the champagne!

I KNOW TRAVEL PRODUCTS If something were to go wrong or there were any last-minute changes, which suppliers have the best cancellation policies? What’s the best travel insurance and should you get it? Just Ask Me! All of the suppliers I will recommend or book I have either travelled with, worked with, or done extensive training with. Destinations I have not been to or sent clients to, I will have done extensive research about.

I TAKE CARE OF THE TRAVEL LOGISTICS How much time do you need for a layover? Would it make the most sense to rent a car, hire a driver, or something else altogether? If even starting down that train of thought is giving you sweaty palms, take a deep breath and give me a call. And, in the unfortunate event that something does go wrong, having someone on your side to help you through it to advocate for you is invaluable. Instead of being stuck internationally, frantically trying to track down all of the people you need to call, contact me and trust me to figure out the best plan for you.

I HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH TRAVEL SUPPLIERS You know when you’re visiting your neighbourhood restaurant where the servers are familiar and know your favourite drink or recommend your favourite dessert? Companies and people love to reward loyalty, and the same is true about travel providers. I have relationships with these companies and we want to keep that relationship mutually beneficial! Sometimes this can translate into extra attention, free upgrades, or discounts, all compliments of Portfolio Travel!

I GUIDE YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY In the age of online booking, it’s easier than ever to find “deals” online, but when you go through a massive online booking company, oftentimes you’re not seeing the whole picture. Is that hotel room so cheap because it’s on the side of the building next to train tracks and faces a brick wall? Working with me, you know exactly what you’re getting, and I won't sugar coat it. Because I work for you, not the travel supplier. I always stay updated on what is happening in the world of travel, and will likely have you 100% over-prepared for your trip!
